Kevlar XP is by far one of the more dramatic advancements in soft armor material design. Testing shows that its possible to certify under 1 Lbs/sq. Ft. in a 100% aramid system without using foam or other illadvised techniques to reduce trauma, while maintaining excellent ballistic performance. That hasnt been possible since the change in the NIJ template size, which excluded the use of so called XL vests being submitted that were really Horse Blankets with Velcro.
