How do I know my size?
On the order page for concealable armor there is an explanation on how to measure, as for military gear the rapid release tactical vest provides a large area of coverage, and the shoulders and side panels have a great ability to be adjusted. So just follow the chart provided on the tactical gear page for choosing your size, or you can call or email us to discuss your measurements
What if I get the product and it doesn't fit?
Tell us the problem and we will either fix it, or you can send it back for a refund. This must be done within 30 days of receipt. The product must be in relatively new condition as it shouldn't take too long to figure out if there is a problem. Other conditions apply
Are your products American made?
Our Law Enforcement products are 100% American made with American materials. Most of our military contracts require American made materials or materials allowed under the exceptions of the Barry Amendment. We comply with this requirement, and of the covers and gear that are made with off shore contractors, they use "OUR" materials which are 100% American made meeting Mil Spec requirement.
The Skaalar Exo-SkinTM products are also 100% American made, and/or meet the requirements of the Barry Amendment.
How long does it take to receive my armor purchase?
It really depends on what you are ordering. Most raw materials are in stock, but some systems like the Skaalar Exo-Skin Gen 4 flexible rifle armor can take 8 weeks, so plan ahead. Generally we deliver within 3 - 4 weeks of purchase, and if the finished item is in stock, shipping is immediate.
Is there a difference between ballistic protection and fragmentation armor protection?
Generally it's difficult to have both in one system that is light weight and comfortable to wear. The US military requires at least 2000Ft./Sec V-50 against the 17 gr. Fragment, and many light weight systems that are NIJ certified do not meet this specification. Systems that meet this Mil Spec 17 Gr. fragmentation specification at very light weights, (about 1 Lbs/Sq. Ft.) generally have difficulties in defeating 3-A pistol rounds, and/or meeting the back face deformation (BFS) associated with the projectile. So if you can have both in one system, that is also less than 1 Lbs/sq. Ft, that's the best set up.
What's a V-50?
A V-50 is a theoretical velocity whereby a given projectile, for example a 9mm 124 Gr. FMJ is accelerated to try and penetrate the armor being tested. If it does, the velocity is lowered on successive shots until it doesn't penetrate, and then the velocity on the next shot(s) are again accelerated to try and penetrate the armor. At the end of the test you have a "low complete" velocity and a "high partial" velocity, these numbers are thrown out and the remainder of the partial and complete penetrations are averaged to attain what is a V-50 number. This number says that at the ascertained V-50 velocity the given projectile will have a 50% chance of penetrating the armor being tested. The number will change to a varying degree depending on the projectile. The real important number is the low complete; even though it's thrown out in calculating the V-50 number it should be much higher than the V-0 velocity of the 3-A standard (1400 - 1460 Ft./Sec) or whatever threat level you are testing.
Do you have only Multicam?
No we handle other colors, which include Black, ACU, Coyote Brown, Desert Tan, and virtually any other scheme you desire, but we believe Mulitcam is the best camouflage scheme, and most of our military work is with Multicam. We only use real Multicam. There are so many fakes Multicam products now, so please let us know if you suspect a product is fake. Generally we will put available colors on the product order page.
We have seen the blast belt you sell, and it's more expensive than ones we have seen using the 600 denier Multicam, why are yours so expensive?
For one there is no 600 denier Mutlicam unless the company made a very special run, secondly our blast belt has many options that cheaper ones don't offer, for example: We have a left and right opening for the drop holster to connect to the webbing in the blast belt, which allows the use of drop thigh holsters to be integrated with the use of the "Blastbelt". We use the stiff shaped pads that can be moved in various location to get the best back and hip support, We use only real 1000 denier Multicam, and provide matching webbing and trim so the IR signature is the lowest possible, and finally we have a convenient zipper that allows the easy insertion of the armor pad that helps complete the name "Blast Belt". It doesn't do much good if it doesn't offer ballistic and blast protection, and the areas of coverage by this belt are really vital and hard to treat in the battle field, so you need this item to be armored, and most of the cheaper one aren't.
What's an IR Signature?
This is the reflection of a band of light generally used in night vision equipment. The Multicam product doesn't reflect light like other materials, and hence even when the enemy has night vision you're still hard to see. That's why using Multicam webbing and trim on the cover and the pockets is important is an important feature. Having the lowest IR signature is what are products are about!
Why do your products cost less than the other large manufacturers?
We don't have a 50 page + color catalog, we keep contractors involved in making "Many of our covers", and even domestic contractor alleviate our employee overhead, and this really helps save in operating costs. We consolidate use of components and materials so that many components work interchangeably. We run a low cost facility in an area of the country that is generally 25% lower than the other popular spots for armor manufacturing, i.e. Florida, Arizona, and California. We're in Houston and our facility is not a monument worshiping the ego, it's nice and does the job. The accoutrements listed above representative of our larger competitors costs a lot of money, and it's passed on in the price of their products.
What kind of Titanium is used in your Skaalar Exo-Skin Gen 1 product?
We use either Titanium 64 or 5/2, however later this year we have a new vendor that is capable of making the highest performing alloys not available to the other companies. We are working on using Ti 662 or Ti 58, which are true "Alpha" alloy and very strong, in fact much stronger than Titanium 64. These alloys are forged into a theoretical 100% dense component. Remember our President has over 25 years experience working with titanium in armor applications, and it is a common temptation to use commercially pure titanium and skimp on the thickness, this will never give you the best results.
Always be sure of the product's component composition when choosing the equipment that's going to protect your life.
How many years experience does your company have in manufacturing protective gear?
The managing director of EAS Inc.that we have hired is Allan D. Bain, and his experience spans 25 years in this industry. He is the inventor of many unique and well known technologies, such as Dragon Skin, The X-2, and Evo-Flex. Mr. Bain used his industry knowledge to consult for numerous manufacture's world wide after the sale of Armor Technology Corp. to Pinnacle Armor in 2000. All aspects of development and sales are handled by Mr. Bain, and that's another advantage of having a modest facility, it's a lot easier to see what's going on as compared to a large corporation that is spread out over the size of a football field. When it's about protective gear you want that kind of oversight.
