Back in late 2000 Armor Technology Corp. sold the first contract of Dragon Skin to a large Police force then called the SOV 1000 which was comprised from Alumina Oxide instead of Silicon Carbide which is much more expensive thats why Dragon Skin made in the mid to late 2000’s are so expensive because it was eclusively made of Silicon Carbide. Alumina Oxide is very inexpensive, reliable, but not so light. Silicon Carbide is lighter and generally 5 times more expensive. Alumina Oxide has been used for decades for defeating rifle fire. Recently we have arranged to get these vests back. Upon examination the typical wear patterns exist in the textile portions, but typical of the ceramic tiles they virtually last forever and are in perfect condition. We ran a lot test combing these alumina oxide ceramic tiles with modern textiles, Spectra II and KM2 600 denier Mil Spec Kevlar and proved these tiles are still in excellent condition and work even better with the latest generation ballistic textile materials: Testing Performed at Chesapeake Testing Lab, an NIJ certified laboratory. We have enough tiles to make 700 units in our RTV 2011 Releasable Tactical Vest with 2.25 Sq. Ft. of level 3+ Rifle Protection and our high Performance QKXP 3-A Spectra II hybrid inserts. The sizes available are medium, medium Long, and Large in color of your choice. The product is made at time of the order, and can take up to 6 weeks depending on our current backlog.
